We certainly hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and we wish all of you the very best in 2013!
We are glad to be back at school, and our classes are settling in well.
News for our classes:
Social Studies (Mrs. Mills): My class is working on projects this month. Each student will be asked to choose a country to research. They will have a specific list of facts they need to find about their country. They will then present their finding on a Bristol board display. These will be completed by the end of January. We will use class time to research and type the information, but time can also be taken at home to work if desired. I am trying to teach them how to take research from the internet or books and put it in their own words, which is a very important skill. I am also trying to teach them ways to make poster projects attractive and eye catching, by pasting their typed information neatly on background colours and using pictures. The website we will use to find information is ‘atlapedia’, and the following information will be needed on their posters: - name of country - population - languages - currency - location – continent
